Frequently asked questions
Stretch marks can occur after/during pregnancy. During puberty when our bodies grow at a rapid pace. Bodybuilding, anything or anytime our bodies grow bigger or smaller can form stretch marks.
They have an off colour compared to our normal skin tone. Stretch marks can be darker/lighter/red/purple/brown/white/silver.
The stretching and shrinking of the body causes proteins in our skin such as collagen and elastin to break down. The skin then tries to heal itself, but leaves behind the stretch marks. You may or may not feel a slight indentation when you touch them.
Stretch marks are common in both men and women. Red/Purple stretch marks are generally fresh and new, they will need to heal for a year before we can treat them.
All stretch mark cases must have a consultation first to determine, cost, time, areas of concern and whether you are suitable for this service.

ISR (inkless stretch mark revision) can significantly improve the appearance of stretch marks that are over 1 year old, white / silver in colour all over the body. ISR is considered to be one of the safest skin treatment procedures and works much better than other options such as - chemical peels, laser, dermabrasions etc.
With this inkless method, we create a controlled skin injury using needles to allow a medical grade serum (Nue Conceal) to enter the skin. This treatment works by stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin to repair the skin, improving skin appearance, texture, firmness and hydration. We will always recommend ISR as the initial treatment before pigment camouflage as this is very effective to reduce the visibility of stretch marks and repair the skin. Pigment camouflage can be used after 1 to 2 sessions of ISR for a better result if required. ISR is not compulsory first however it is strongly recommended.
Please note ISR helps to reduce and improve the appearance and texture of the stretch marks with serums, pigment camouflage works as a "concealer" pigment will be matched to your skin tone. Both treatments are highly effective.
Stretch mark camouflage is a treatment that uses skin tone matched pigment to conceal and smooth the appearance of visible stretch marks. Pigment is tattooed directly on the stretch marks in the dermis layer of the skin to permanently make the stretch marks less noticeable.
Please note ISR helps to reduce and improve the appearance and texture of the stretch marks with serums, pigment camouflage works as a "concealer" pigment will be matched to your skin tone. Both treatments are highly effective.
No please understand that this treatment varys per person, it is impossible to remove the stretch marks 100% but we can improve the overall appearance, each person's journey is different. Both treatments are very successful however no treatment is ever 100% guaranteed. My clients have seen up to 80% overall improvement in just 1 treatment, this will depend on the condition of the stretch marks along with aftercare and health of the client.
Inkless camouflage is always recommended as the first session to reduce the appearance of visible stretch marks, improve the texture, firmness and hydration before undertaking camouflage using coloured skin tone pigment. ISR is not compulsory first however it is strongly recommended.
NO! The most suitable stretch marks to be treated need to be at least one year old and white / silver in colour.
The number of sessions will vary per individual, it will depend on clients skin type, their ethnic, stretch mark appearance, overall health, aftercare, clients diseird results. Generally after 1 session you will notice once healed a 20% - 70% improvement. We would suggest between 1 to 4 treatments for the best results. This could be a combination of ISR + Pigment camouflage eg: 2 ISR treatments + 2 pigment camouflage treatments, this will all be discussed during your consultation. Treatments are recommended to be booked approx 8 weeks apart.
This will depend on the size of the area we are treating, It is important the treatment is exercised with care and precision and the process is not rushed, We would generally suggest the appointment will take between 30 minutes to 3 hours however larger and multiple areas may take longer. During your consultation we will be able to give you a more accurate appointment duration.
For follow up and further sessions the time may be shorter as only some stretch marks may need treating not the original size in the first session.
Most clients are very comfortable during this treatment around a 3 out of 10, if pain is a concern to you this can be discussed in your consultation and a numbing agent can be recommended.
Yes both Inkless and pigment camouflage is safe, as long as the treatment is completed by a trained and certified artist. The artist will be qualified in infection control to prevent infectious diseases from occurring. Aftercare will be provided to assure further safety of the healing stage.
ISR is permanent, please keep in mind new stretch marks may form if there is a change to the body such as weight gain, pregnancy. You will then need to treat this area once new stretch marks are over 1 year old. Remember that results are different on each individual, lifestyle, diet, sun exposure, aftercare, weight gain.
Pigment camouflage may or may not require low maintenance, this will vary and depend on the clients aftercare, sun exposure and immune system.
If new stretch marks are formed in the same area they will need to be treated once one year or longer old. Please note lighter pigment shades may fade sooner than darker shades. Touch ups a number of years later for pigment camouflage may be required and will be a case by case scenario.
ISR - The healing phase is approx 3 to 6 weeks, post treatment the treated stretch marks will be red and inflamed. Slight scabbing is normal during the first few weeks of healing. Allow anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks for healing to be complete for ISR and to see final results from each session. If your second session is coming around and the area is still a little red or dark we will push this out longer as each individual is different. Results will vary pending on how well the client heals and follows the provided aftercare.
Pigment camouflage is approx 3 to 6 weeks, post treatment redness, swelling may occur, scabbing is normal during the first week or two. Pigment will soften approx 30% after each healed session. Results will vary pending on how well the client heals and follows the provided aftercare.
Please note darker ethnic skin tone will take longer to heal.
This will be provided to you at your appointment, please avoid making any appointments around times you will be swimming and sun exposed to the treated area for a few weeks.
The whole body can be treated for stretch marks, the most common being the stomach, back, glutes, arms, Chest/breast, thighs.
