Frequently asked questions
Body Sculpting
Body Sculpting is a non surgical treatment used to contour the body with treatments such as Ultrasound Fat Cavitation, Radio Frequency skin tightening and vacuum therapy to achieve a desired aesthetic appearance.
Ultrasound fat cavitation is a non invasive body contouring treatment that uses low-frequency sound waves to target and break down fat cells. The non-invasive procedure works by reducing localised fat deposits which are liquidised by a special device in specific parts of the body and then eliminated by the body naturally through the lymphatic system.
Fat cavitation is often used to target areas of the body that are difficult to tone through exercise and diet alone, such as the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks.
Radio Frequency (RF) skin tightening is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure aimed at rejuvenating and tightening the skin. It uses Radio Frequency energy to heat up the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production. This helps to reduce fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin. Radio Frequency skin tightening is often used on areas such as the face, neck, arms and abdomen.
Radio Frequency treatments are considered painless with little down time making them a very popular treatment for those wanting to achieve tighter firmer skin without undergoing surgery or other invasive treatments.
Body sculpting is considered painless with some people reporting a very mild tingling and or warm sensation during treatment. You are able to return to tour normal activities immediately. It is a walk in walk out treatment that can even be done on your lunch break.
Radio Frequency Skin Tightening treatments can feel like a hot stone massage.
Ultrasound Fat Cavitation can feel like you have done a work out on the area that has been treated post treatment (not in all cases). You will also hear a cricket type noise during treatment this is considered painless.
Some redness may occur on the area. This is completely normal. Rashes, little hives or bruising may occur. These are rare, however, it is a normal reaction. If you are on or due your period, you may find that you are more sensitive and more prone to bruising.
Ultrasound fat cavitation appointments is best when scheduled a week apart and no closer than four days apart during the initial treatment plan. It is essential to allow your body enough time to metabolize and excrete fats and waste materials after each session.
There is a limit of 1 hour fat cavitation per session.
Radio frequency skin tightening can be done on as many areas at a time in once session, allow at least 5 days onwards before doing the area again.
Most clients experience a reduction in circumference after the first session, with increasing results after each visit but especially after the
third treatment and onward. The results may vary from person to person with different tissue structure, treatment area, age, metabolism, medications, and changes in hormones.
Proper diet, adequate water intake and increased physical activity will certainly improve and help to maintain your results. Results will continue to improve for several weeks following the last treatment session. You will continue to metabolize fat for up to twelve weeks, which means that, as most people do not make new fat cells in later life, the loss can be permanent.
This procedure will also leave you with firmer, smoother looking skin than before, due to the inclusion of Radio Frequency Therapy, which encourages the fibroblasts within the skin to produce collagen.
Between 3 and 12 sessions may be required, this will be discussed during your treatment plan / consult or first session.
Before a Fat Cavitation Appointment:
- DO be well hydrated (2-3 L water a day). Drink 500ml more than a normal day the day of and before your cavitation session.
- Do not eat 1 hour before your app for your own comfort.
- DO stay active (20 – 30 minutes of moderate exercise 3-4 times a week).
- DO eat a well-balanced diet.
After a Fat Cavitation Appointment:
- LIMIT alcohol intake for 24hours before & after (the triglycerides are processed through the liver, therefore alcohol intake may reduce the effects of the treatment & it places too much strain on the liver).
- LIMIT complex carbohydrates for 24 hours (breads, sugars - these foods are stored as fat in the body and will replace the fat that Fat Cav has treated).
- LIMIT processed foods anyway as a part of a healthy diet.
- DO drink at least 2-3L of water in 24 hours prior to and for 72 hours after each treatment.
- DO either use our infrared sauna immediately after your treatment OR go for a walk (the more you sweat the better your results).
Pre and Post Care Information Radio Frequency Skin Tightening:
- To ensure the body responds well to RF at least 2 litres of water should be consumed over a 24 hour period prior to the treatment. It is essential to stagger water consumption over this period to ensure your body is well hydrated.
- A mild exfoliation scrub prior to RF will prepare your skin to get maximum results.
- Any deep peels should be avoided a week prior to and a week following your treatment.
- RF heats the skin to cause retraction of the collagen fibres, so it is important not to cool it immediately afterwards as the inflammation encourages results.
- You may wear a mineral based foundation to conceal any redness.
- An SPF 30+ should be applied immediately following your treatment and reapplied as necessary over the next 72hrs.
- Do NOT sunbath and avoid excessive sun exposure for two weeks either side of your Skin Tightening treatment. (do not get the area sunburnt)
- Cosmetic Injecting clients should leave two weeks between their last cosmetic injecting treatment and RF Skin Tightening.
Radio Frequency is common on areas such as but not limited to the face, neck, arms, abdomen, thighs, glutes, hands.
Ultrasound Fat Cavitation is common on areas such as arms, abdomen, thighs.
For best results a treatment plan may included a combination of both RF and Fat Cavitation on the same area. The abdomen is very common and recommended for the combo treatment.
Individuals with acute or contagious disease, HIV, a history of cancer, kidney failure, liver failure, fatty liver, implant devices such as pacemakers or electrical prosthesis, epilepsy or MS should not undergo ultrasound cavitation.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding are also contraindications for this procedure and should not be done.
